Ways to Enjoy the Water in the Treasure Valley this Summer

No matter your budget or adventure level, there's a perfect way to enjoy the water and make the most of the Treasure Valley's sunny summer days! Here are some of the best places to beat the heat this summer.
Local City Pools
Boise is fortunate to have several city pools spread throughout the area, making it easy to cool off for pretty cheap. Admission is less than $5 per person, making it one of the most affordable summer activities around.
Many of the pools also host special events throughout the season, including teen pool parties complete with music, snacks, games, and raffle prizes. Whether you're swimming laps, splashing around, or simply relaxing in the sun, Boise's city pools are a great way to spend the summer day.
Boise River
It's floating season! One of Boise's most popular summer traditions is floating the Boise River. Grab your friends, pack some sunscreen, and enjoy a relaxing ride down the river.
The official float begins at Barber Park and ends at Ann Morrison Park, and takes about two to three hours. If you don't want to coordinate multiple vehicles, the city offers convenient shuttle rides from Ann Morrison Park to Barber Park for just $5 per person.
First-time floating? No problem! If you don't have your own tube or life jacket, you can rent everything you need at Barber Park before heading out. Remember to wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet, bring plenty of water, and check the river conditions before you float.
Quinn's Pond
Looking for a free place to swim, paddleboard, or simply relax by the water? Quinn's Pond is a great spot. Located just off Whitewater Boulevard and only about 10 minutes from downtown Boise, it's one of the city's favorite spots for a quick escape.
The calm water makes it ideal for paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming, while the nearby grassy areas are perfect for picnics or lounging in the sun. It's an easy, budget-friendly way to enjoy the outdoors while staying in town.
Roaring Springs
If you're looking for thrills, Roaring Springs Water Park is the place to be! Open over the summer, the park features water slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river. The fun doesn't stop with the slides. On the weekends they host themed DJ nights and movies at the wave pool. Watching a movie or listening to some fun music brings a whole new vibe while you are hanging with your friends in the park.

Lucky Peak
Want to get a little farther outside of Boise? Head over to Lucky Peak for a full day on the water. Visitors can swim, paddleboard, kayak, or simply relax on the beach. It is also a great spot to enjoy a boat ride, or a picnic. It's a great place to bring your friends and splash in the water.
Lucky peak is higher up in the foot hills so don’t forget the sunscreen, and a few drinks to stay hydrated with!
Jump Creek
Looking for a way to enjoy the water but not get wet? Located just outside of the Treasure Valley in Marsing, is a beautiful waterfall and hiking opportunity. The Short hike to the water fall is less than a mile round trip, making it a great hike for stretching out your legs with your friends. Come enjoy this scenic hike and beautiful waterfall before the summer ends!
During warm months are a great time to wade in the water at the base of the fall, or just hangout along the edge of the water. Before heading out on the trail remember to wear sturdy shoes as the trail is quite rocky, and always remember to bring some drinking water.
Lake Lowell
If you are looking for a peaceful place to enjoy the water, check out Lake Lowell located in Nampa. The lake provides plenty of space for swimming, floating, fishing, or relaxing on the coast. The lake also has several boat ramps and grassy areas, making it a good place to spend the day with your friends.
Lake Lowell is also a great place to catch the sunset as it paints the sky with beautiful colors. Bring some food, games, and your friends and enjoy a peaceful day at the lake. Whether you are spending the day or just a couple of hours, Lake Lowell is a great way to spend time outside in the Treasure Valley.
